Rates & Insurance
Embracing Wellness is an out-of-network (OON) provider for all insurance companies. This means that I do not bill insurance companies directly. Your counseling services may be eligible for partial reimbursement through use of your OON benefits, medical spending (FSA's), or health care savings accounts (HSA's). If you would like to submit for use of your OON benefits on your own behalf, I am happy to provide the necessary Superbill for you to seek reimbursement.

Tips on Verifying Your Out-of-Network Insurance Benefits
If you are interested in submitting for reimbursement using your out-of-network (OON) benefits, I recommend you verify this information with your insurance provider before starting treatment. You can contact the member services number on the back of your insurance card and request to speak to the benefits department. Ask the following:
“Do I have out-of-network insurance benefits to see a licensed clinical social worker?” My NPI number, if asked, is: 1316477631.
“What is the reimbursement rate for a 53+ minute telehealth session for (an individual or couple’s/family) session?”
** Please note, insurance companies often provide this information as a percentage of what is called the “allowable” reimbursement rate. For example, they may say, “We reimburse 80% of the allowable after your out-of-network deductible is met, which is $110/ per 53+ min session.” This example would equate to $88 reimbursement per session (80% of $110). The rate that the provider is billing is typically higher than the “allowable” rate, which is important to consider with the financial investment of mental health care.**
“Do I have an OON deductible to meet first? Is it met? When do my plan & deductible start over?
“Is there a limit to how many sessions will be reimbursed?”
“Is approval required from a primary care physician to use my OON benefits?”
“Do you accept Superbills for processing OON claims?”
“Do I need to file an OON claim within a certain amount of time?”
“How do I file OON claims on my own behalf?” (e.g. mail, e-mail, fax, phone)
You may also wish to ask for a confirmation number that corresponds with your call, note the name of the representative that you spoke with, and the date and time. Insurance companies will occasionally change their benefit contracts mid-plan, and without a record of prior benefit confirmation, it can be difficult to receive reimbursement in these cases.
Navigating the world of insurance can be daunting and confusing; please, don’t hesitate to clarify any information as part of your vetting process in finding the best fit provider for your needs.
No Surprises Act
On January 1, 2022, congress enacted the “No Surprises Act,” which is a new federal protection against surprise medical bills. Surprise medical bills arise when insured consumers inadvertently or unknowingly receive care from out-of-network hospitals, doctors, or other providers they did not choose. Under this law, health care providers, including mental health providers, must give clients who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for services.
As stated above, Embracing Wellness Counseling is an out-of-network provider and operates in compliance with the No Surprises Act. I believe in transparency, which is why fees are clearly stated on this site and discussed explicitly during the initial phone consultation and intake process.
